- The permit application submitted to DHEC by JGT was reviewed on 10/26. This is very timely as work is
expected to start in November. DHEC should make their decision shortly.
- We received an updated quote from PMI (welding and coating company). We added the jet filter installation and 100 welded repairs (this was previously bid by Salmons) to their work statement and they reduced their price by $86K. This is real progress and they would be able to start work 3 weeks after contract. The other coating company bid from Blastco came back very high (looks like they don't really want the job). SCP expects to make a decision next week.
- SCP is evaluating several different in-water anode products that are available in different lengths and have different costs (price/foot). They expect to make a selection next week. The anode sock sleeve system for the land side installation is available and ready to place PO.
- Trent Tinder (landscaper) will start the utilities survey in the next 2-3 weeks. This is important to complete before the trenching for anode installation starts.
- Waterway Island will require two rectifiers connected to each transformer due to the limited number of transformers on the island (6). There are 3 ways we can accomplish this and will have to work with each homeowner and WDCA to get to a decision.
1. Put 2 rectifiers adjacent to each transformer (probably won't look good, too much in one place).
2. Place one rectifier next to the transformer and bore to the second rectifier on the opposite side of the property.
3. Place one rectifier next to the transformer and bore across the street to green space installation of second rectifier (need WDCA approval for this option).
- SCP is working with 2 local painters to paint the rectifiers when they arrive. They will be sanded, primed and top coated with Historic Charleston Green (same color as the mocked up rectifier in the sample photos we posted. The cost is estimated to be $650-$700 per rectifier and will help the rectifiers blend into the natural landscape Trent will plant around the rectifiers.
- Although the project schedule is behind plan (2-3 months), the planning budget should still be achievable as work statement has been removed (no deep wells, no sonic drilling). Coating cost estimate from PMI has increased but jet filter installation and welded repairs have been moved to PMI from Salmons. Salmons bid was $580K for jet filter installation and 30 welded repairs. PMI has included 100 welded repairs in their bid.
