Project Update: 10/6/22

- There has been a lot of progress on the cathodic testing by the bath house and A-dock- necessary to finalize design

- The linear Anode sock located 5 feet behind the bulkhead is doing a good job distributing current to the back of the wall. This will be our design solution and will reduce the number of deep wells from 30 to 6 or 8 (3 or 4 per side).

- The high conductivity of the soil however is distributing too much current to the front side of the bulkhead from the deep wells. Therefore the wells will either need to be 100 feet deeper or be located 100 feet from the bulkhead ( one option is to locate them at the front of the homes adjacent to the transformers as well as some of the rectifiers). We will need to discuss this option with impacted homeowners.

- A second option would be to eliminate the wells entirely and place a second linear distributed anode 1.5" dia system along the front side of the bulkhead (5-10 feet) from the bulkhead on the bottom resting in the mud. SCP will get costs and details of this design this week. The benefits are the system is easier to control and direct the current to the front side and gives superior corrosion protection to the waterside uncoated sheet pile below low tide waterline.

- The detailed design of the jet filter specification and installation were completed by JGT and provided to SPC.

- We got a firm proposal from Palacio Marine Industrial (PMI) out of TX to strip and coat the bulkhead with TZ-904 100% solids epoxy. This is the company that recoated the Port of Houston in 2006. The bid was $1M over budget. We asked SPC to engage in a negotiation with PMI to see what it would take to hit our budget. They priced a lot of risk into the proposal with assumptions of working 5 days/week and being onsite 7.8 months due to temp, tides , humidity and weekends. We may need to work 7 days/week to hit the target budget. They also put a large risk premium on the 5 year warranty. They are a large company and have the equipment and resources available to start work. We need to get their price down.

- The TZ-904 is available in Black and battleship Gray. The gray shows less salt staining and oxidation. We have samples to review.

- We have a proposal to map out all the utilities along the bulkhead which needs Board approval to commence work.

- Caleb and Steve Williams (Coating Expert) will travel to see the Port of Houston coating. The trip will be either October 13th or 20th.
