- There has been a lot of discussion and planning for the repair, and coating of the concrete cap including the area under the gangways. The gangway anchor bolts are corroded and not usable once removed. The current plan is to remove gangway, install new stainless steel anchors, add a layer of Trenton wax tape as an isolation layer between the aluminum attachment plates and the stainless hardware. Once the hardware is repaired, PMI will be able to pull the gangway pins to gain access to the front of the I-beam cap to strip and coat. Price negotiation in progress with contractor.
- Concrete cap work statement includes , repairing 225 expansion joints, replacing the 75 feet of the top skim coat by B-dock and 90 feet of repair in other areas. Additionally the entire length of the cap will be diamond ground and coated to seal and prevent future water intrusion. We have 2 contractors bidding on this work , Phillips and Deck Crafters. Southern Concrete has already given us a bid on the expansion joint repair. We should have firm bids in the next 2 weeks. Chris Moore from JGT is the project manager for this work although Caleb from SCP is also spending a lot of time on this work statement.
- Good news! The Design of Experiments with the coating test panels went well. The panels were coated with TZ904 and the Thiokol caulking was used in the joints. The caulking was allowed to dry for 1 hour and then over sprayed with TZ904. This will yield the best workflow and aesthetics on the wall. After the coating was completely cured, pull off testing was performed with results of 2600 PSI and no bondline failures. This is the last piece of adhesion data we needed to make the coating/caulking decision.
The updated Design Build contract with Southern Cathodic was signed which included all the updated specifications for the coating system including quality criteria and inspections. We had Terracon also review the specs as an independent review. Once Southern Cathodic had the signed contract, they released the Purchase Order to PMI. We expect PMI to mobilize here by March 1st and start the coating phase of the project. To ensure the marina will be completed by summer we have decided to start at A-dock and move east along the creek wall. The entire project span is still expected to be 8 months to coat both sides of the creek.
- PMI project leader is coming for an onsite review February 13th and 14th. Several of the board members will also meet with PMI.
- Trent has cleared the vegetation by the A-dock enclosure and we will place a rectifier there to get final positioning and landscape. This will be used as the model for all the rectifiers next to enclosure installations.
